At this year’s commencement ceremony, the College of Nursing proudly honored three distinguished alumni for their remarkable contributions to the field and enduring commitment to healthcare. As part of the celebration, each honoree was asked a central question: What has sustained your commitment and passion throughout your professional journey?

Their answers, though uniquely personal, revealed a shared philosophy on navigating a meaningful career.

They spoke of finding a clear sense of purpose—an inner compass that guided them through both triumphs and trials. They described viewing challenges as opportunities, reframing adversity as a catalyst for personal and professional growth.

Curiosity, they emphasized, was a critical force—fueling innovation, continued learning, and a sense of discovery. One alum reminded us that “sometimes the most effective strategies are the simplest,” underscoring the power of clarity and consistency. Another shared, “The most valuable part of what we do is knowing that our work changes lives. That’s what makes all the effort worthwhile.”

All echoed a unifying theme: that true fulfillment comes from finding meaning and value in your work, and staying connected to the broader impact of your contributions.

Their insights not only inspired this year’s graduates but served as a powerful reminder of what it means to build a purposeful, resilient, and enduring career in nursing, aged care, and beyond.
