International Exchange | 2025-07-09

Taipei Medical University (TMU) College of Nursing officially welcomed 24 health professionals and students from 11 institutions in the Philippines for the kickoff of its two-week Holiday School program, held from July 7 to 18, 2025. This initiative is proudly supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education as part of its commitment to strengthening international academic exchange and regional health workforce development.

Designed to offer participants a first-hand experience of TMU’s innovative healthcare education and research, combines expert-led seminars, simulation-based learning, hospital visits, and faculty engagement. Adding an international dimension, two undergraduate students from the Seoul National University College of Nursing joined the first week as part of a summer exchange, further highlighting TMU’s role as a regional hub for academic exchange and collaboration.

Highlights include thematic lectures on advanced nursing practice, interprofessional education, digital health, and culturally responsive care, as well as practical sessions such as VR-based simulation workshops and clinical observation at TMU’s three affiliated teaching hospitals. Participants also explore TMU’s research laboratories and learn about opportunities for further study, including PhD programs in nursing and gerontology and long-term care.

Dr. Pei-Shan Tsai, Dean of the College of Nursing, welcomed participants during the opening ceremony:“We are honored to host such an exceptional group of future leaders in health. We hope this program sparks new ideas, fosters long-term connections, and inspires you to consider joining our vibrant academic and research community in the future.”

The Holiday School not only reflects TMU’s ongoing engagement with Southeast Asia but also supports the broader goal of international talent cultivation, including the recruitment of future PhD students in nursing and related health sciences.
